skin lesion excision
Excision of benign lesions involve the removal of non-cancerous growths or marks on the skin that may cause discomfort, irritation, or cosmetic concerns or to exclude a more sinister pathology. These lesions can include moles, cysts, keratoses, seborrhoeic lesions, pilomatrixoma, lipomas, or other harmless lumps and lesions.
Surgery involves carefully removing the lesion along with a small margin of surrounding skin to ensure complete excision. The wound is then closed to promote healing and minimize scarring. Removed tissue will routinely be sent for histological examination to confirm the diagnosis. This procedure can be performed on one or multiple lesions, depending on your individual needs.
We welcome referrals from patients directly or from medical professionals to undertake a consultation to assess the lesion(s) and plan your treatment. Where appropriate, video consultations can be arranged and some small lesions may be suitable for "see and treat" surgery where your biopsy or surgery can be performed on the same day as your consultation.
