Breast Implant surgery can be required to address symptoms such as discomfort, changes in breast appearance, capsular contracture (tightening of the film of tissue that forms around the implant), concerns about implant rupture or safety, or simply a change in personal preference. Changes in appearance may be due to visible rippling, distortion of position causing asymmetry, "bottoming out" (dropping of the implant) over time or "waterfall deformity" where your breast tissue slides off your implant which sits in a higher position. Sometimes patients just want a "check-up" of their implants to understand whether any of the above issues are present. Whatever your concerns, we will explore these with you and assess your options. If needed, investigation with ultrasound, MRI or mammogram might be recommended.

Surgery might involve either exchange or removal of your implants, depending on your individual need. The pros and cons of capsulotomy (releasing the capsule to address tightness) versus capsulectomy (removing the whole capsule) will be discussed. Sometimes, a change in the position of your implants might be recommended, depending on clinical findings and your desired outcome. In some cases, additional procedures such as a breast uplift (mastopexy) or volume adjustment using liposculpture may be recommended to restore a natural breast shape.
