Nipple reconstruction
Nipple-areolar complex surgery encompasses a number of procedures to correct changes in the size, shape, position, or appearance of the nipple and surrounding areola. This surgery may be sought to address issues such as nipple inversion, asymmetry, enlarged or misshapen areolae, or displacement following breast surgery, injury, or congenital differences. Nipple reconstruction is offered as part of your breast reconstruction following mastectomy, and a new areola can be added later by tattoo to improve symmetry and overall breast aesthetics.
Surgery may be performed on one or both sides depending on your individual needs and goals and is often carried out under local anaesthetic as a daycase.
