Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty is a procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the abdominal area and tighten the underlying muscles to create a firmer, flatter stomach. It is often sought following pregnancy, significant weight loss, or natural ageing, when the resulting loose skin, weakened abdominal muscles, and a protruding tummy can affect posture, comfort, and clothing fit. Where a previous scar, such as a Caesarian scar, is contributing to a poor aesthetic, we will aim to address this wherever possible.
Surgery involves removing enough skin and fat to improve contour and may include repairing separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) to restore core strength. The procedure typically results in a low abdominal scar that can be concealed by underwear or swimwear. A careful assessment will be made so that surgery can be tailored to your specific needs, whether limited to the lower abdomen (mini-abdominoplasty) or more extensive options such as full, fleur-de-lys or circumferential abdominoplasty, or combined with adjunctive procedures such as liposuction or monsplasty. Abdominoplasty can also be combined with breast surgery (mastopexy, augmentation or reduction) as part of a "mummy makeover" procedure.
